Meet Andrew Travis >> Studio Director
Hailing from Florence, South Carolina, meet our Studio Director, Andrew Travis.
After receiving his bachelors in Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University in 2013, he packed his bags, headed north, and joined the SweetSounds Studio team. We recently sat down with Andrew to ask him a few questions -- check it out!
What is a typical “day in the life” of a studio director?
Of course you have the day to day tasks which never really change -- things revolving around studio facility maintenance, dealing with finances, and scheduling sessions. The main focus I have throughout my day to day is making sure that everyone who walks in the door feels at home and welcome in our space. We have a service mentality here that is often forgotten when it comes to studio culture. We make a point to leave all the egotistical stuff out the door, and focus on making good music every day and leaving clients happy.
What separates SweetSounds from other studios in the city?
The environment. There's an intangible element to our space that I really enjoy. Someone said to me once that our space is one of the only luxury spaces that still has a homey vibe to it. We have all the perks of a state-of-the-art facility -- the mics, the expertise, the gear, the aesthetic -- but all of our engineers are super down to Earth, and it really does feel at home here and we have some fantastic relationships with our clients.
What is your favorite recent project that’s come out of SweetSounds?
Have to go with the guys over at Maker Management. They consistently bring incredible energy into our space. Even from just hearing bits and pieces of new material from artists like Pat Toussaint and TiDUS, you know they've got an exciting journey ahead of them. Just glad to be a part of it!
Any advice for new clients coming into the studio for the first time?
Take time to get to know all of the different people involved here at the studio! Be friendly, say hello and don't be afraid to sit down and chat with us about what you have going on with your music. We love making new friends and want to help you as much as we can with your songs. We're creating something big here, be a part of it!
A perfect time to get to know us is going to be at our open house, a week from now on February 11th. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. RSVP ONLY!
